Gabriel Hermida is an internationally acclaimed virtuoso guitarist and composer whose masterful synthesis of tango, flamenco, and jazz has established him as one of the most distinctive and revered artists in contemporary music.
A prodigy who first picked up the guitar at the age of six, he has dedicated more than five decades to his craft. His rare command of multiple instruments — guitar, contrabass, piano, and voice — combined with an extraordinary gift for improvisation and rare emotional depth and sensitivity.
Born in Argentina with deep Spanish roots, Hermida channels the passion and elegance of his heritage into a singular artistic voice. Early recognition from Argentine legends Charly García and Fito Páez launched him onto a distinguished path that has led him to the world’s most prestigious stages.
He has performed at the White House, Lincoln Center, Blue Note, the Royal Theatre in Monte Carlo for Princess Caroline of Monaco, Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, Teatro Maipo in Buenos Aires, B.B. King Blues Club, and James Knight’s Theatre in Miami. His long-standing artistic home at New York’s Flatiron Room and appearances at exclusive venues such as the Meadow Club of Southampton reflect the deep trust placed in him by the most discerning audiences worldwide.
Throughout his career, Hermida has collaborated with The Gipsy Kings, toured with tap master Savion Glover, and collaborated with jazz luminaries including Jack DeJohnette, Richard Bona, and John McLaughlin, as well as Latin music icons Leo Dan, Piero, and José Luis Rodríguez “El Puma.”
As a composer, he has created acclaimed original works and productions, including Ultra Tango, the Edith Piaf Tribute, and Fire & Passion: The Music of Barbra Streisand. His repertoire masterfully reinterprets the gypsy jazz of Django Reinhardt, the works of Astor Piazzolla and Antônio Carlos Jobim, and a rich array of classical, Latin, and Mediterranean traditions.
A classically trained Master of Music, Gabriel Hermida continues to move discerning audiences with performances of technical mastery and profound soul. He is currently completing a solo jazz album that fuses the timeless essence of tango and flamenco with the language of modern jazz.
